The Apollinaire Prize: the new sponsor is a woman hoteliere!
The Apollinaire Prize, founded in 1941 is the oldest poetry prize awarded today, it is called the "the Goncourt of poetry". It was chaired by Jean Cocteau and Georges Duhamel!
It was presented annually since 1975 at Drouant's who was providing sponsorship. But since the sale of the restaurant in 2005, the "Goncourt of poetry" had neither place nor sponsor.
Fortunately, Monique Pignet, a "sensational" businesswoman and leader of the Hotel Claret Bercy and the Grand Hotel des Gobelins Paris XIII decided to adopt it.
Since 2006, the award is given in the lounge of the Hotel Claret named in honor of the prize-Salon Apollinaire.
